For context: I’m currently using an ADV7611 with an internal clock divider and a parallel RGB DAC stage. It works, but obviously using the integrated DAC would simplify things a lot. Using the 40-pin header is not an option, because there are other peripherals that need a few pins, and with VGA888 there simply aren’t enough left.
You may consider a BT817/BT818 SPI/QSPI Display Controller.

This controller chip is completely independent of HDMI and its restrictions and can drive parallel RGB displays directly.
